Dr. Moira Gunn speaks with Dr. Michio Kaku, Professor of Theoretical Physics at the City College of New York, talks to Moira Gunn about how the universe works. Dr. Kaku is host of the weekly public radio program "Explorations," and author of the new book "Hyperspace: A Scientific Odyssey through Parallel Universes, Time Warps, and the Tenth Dimension." They discuss the superstring theory of the universe, as well as Kaku's early interest in theoretical physics.

Dr. Gunn also speaks with Dr. Kip Thorne, Feynmann Professor of Theoretical Physics at Caltech. Dr. Thorne's new book is "Black Holes and Time Warps: Einstein's Outrageous Legacy." They discuss what it means to be a scientist, the relationship between what physicists really know and what is shown on the "Star Trek" television series, and the possibility of building a time machine that works.
