Vasilov's Ghost


Nikolai Vavilov, one of the world's pre-eminent plant geneticists and plant collectors, left a legacy to the world: important scientific theories about the origins of plants and the largest seed collection ever amassed. Vavilov's seed collection, an important genetic resource for the whole world, is housed today in St. Petersburg, Russia, and is in danger of degenerating. Producer Neenah Ellis visits the collection to bring back the inspiring and tragic story of Nikolai Vavilov.
