For a time the Luddites enjoyed great
success, and there was little bloodshed. Some lyrics survive
from a authentic Luddite anthem called "General Ludd's Triumph".
They celebrate this brief period and remind us that the Luddites
were literate, senstive people.
Our song, "General Ludd's Victory" is based in part on those
original lyrics, but with no attempt at authenticity. See
The Making of the Working Class, by E. P. Thompson,
copyright 1963, chapter 14 for our source.
