The Church in South Africa
Those who devised the Apartheid system in South Africa claimed that God
was on their side. Alliance with God was claimed by the opponents of
Apartheid as well. On Common Ground, Sheena Duncan, honorary life vice
president of the South African Council of Churches; Klippies Kritzinger,
professor of missiology at the University of South Africa; Matthew Makhaye,
Anglican bishop of KwaZulu/Natal; and Beyers Naude, former president of
the South African Council of Churches, discuss how church and state will
get along in the new South Africa.
