EA organized the first Earth Day in 1970. When asked for three action items for the environment, Hawley Truax discussed the subject with the collection of activists at the Environmental Action tent. Their collective discussion quickly found a consensus, perhaps reflecting the focus on individual lifestyle choices that distinguished this seventies style group-oriented association. And they were the clear winners in the tasteful t-shirt competition.
Their vision statement says: "A clean, unpolluted environment is a fundamental human right. Environmental Action and its companion organization, Environmental Action Foundation, work to protect the health and welfare of our present and future generations through pollution prevention."
