Susan Thomson received her B.Sc (1985) and M.Sc degrees (1987) in Computer Science from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, and her Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge (1991). She is now a member of research staff at Bellcore in New Jersey, where she works on aspects of internetworking. Susan was involved in one of precursors to SIPP, called Pip, and is currently specifying and implementing parts of SIPP. She has previously worked in the area of distributed file systems.
