There are two styles of domain names: ones that end in the name of the country, and ones that end with the older-style "com" (commercial), "org" (organization, usually non-profit), "gov" (government), "mil" (military), "edu" (educational institution), and "int" (international bodies such as NATO and TPC). The .com domain is not exclusively US, and the .org domain is neither exclusively non-profit no exclusively US.
